On the morning of Wednesday 23rd May the olympic torch wound its way along Henleaze high street and past the door of AMD’s Henleaze office. In anticipation, and in an effort to raise money for St Peter’s Hospice, our charity of the year, AMD staff set about baking cakes, in the hope that there may be some hungry onlookers who hadn’t had time to finish their breakfast. Oh how right we were! The cakes flew off the trays, mainly snapped up by eager school children enjoying a late start to their day!
Our efforts resulted in us raising over £235 for St Peter’s, taking our total over the £1,000 mark, which is what we have been aiming for!
The atmosphere was vibrant, with people waving flags everywhere and cheering the torch bearer as she passed. One onlooker even serenaded the crowd with the National Anthem from above a shop window!
AMD are proud to have been part of one of the most exciting recent events in Henleaze!
