As a result of our continued growth, we are pleased to open this position to join our experienced Private Client Team.

The successful candidate will be a driven solicitor with a focus on being part of and adding to a highly experienced Private Client Department. The role is a full time position although part-time would be considered.

Key responsibilities

  • To undertake fee earning work, working both independently, with minimal supervision and as a member of the team;
  • to maintain existing relations with the firm’s clients and assist and help develop new relationships;
  • the preparation and advice on wills and trusts;
  • administration of estates and trusts;
  • advising on trusts;
  • advising on tax matters with emphasis on Inheritance Tax mitigation;
  • advising clients with regard to elderly issues, from LPAs to Deputy Orders;
  • estate planning;
  • managing relationships with IFAs, accountants and clients;
  • must be willing to work closely with other departments within the firm on joint projects; and
  • must be willing to participate in the growth and future development of the department

Experience required

The successful applicant should have a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience working in a private client department. The applicant should also be to manage a busy caseload and possess:

  • Strong communication skills;
  • The ability to build strong client relationships;
  • A commitment to thorough drafting and legal analysis;
  • Excellent team work when working with junior and senior team members;
  • Excellent project and time management skills;
  • A practical and commercial approach;
  • excellent IT skills and the ability to work in a paperless or paperlite environment; and
  • the ability to manage and prioritise deadlines and fixed timescale work.

Although not a requirement, a STEP or Solicitors for the Elderly accreditation would be preferred.
