As a result of our continued growth, we are pleased to open this position to join our experienced Private Client Team.
The successful candidate will be a driven solicitor with a focus on being part of and adding to a highly experienced Private Client Department. The role is a full time position although part-time would be considered.
Key responsibilities
- To undertake fee earning work, working both independently, with minimal supervision and as a member of the team;
- to maintain existing relations with the firm’s clients and assist and help develop new relationships;
- the preparation and advice on wills and trusts;
- administration of estates and trusts;
- advising on trusts;
- advising on tax matters with emphasis on Inheritance Tax mitigation;
- advising clients with regard to elderly issues, from LPAs to Deputy Orders;
- estate planning;
- managing relationships with IFAs, accountants and clients;
- must be willing to work closely with other departments within the firm on joint projects; and
- must be willing to participate in the growth and future development of the department
Experience required
The successful applicant should have a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience working in a private client department. The applicant should also be to manage a busy caseload and possess:
- Strong communication skills;
- The ability to build strong client relationships;
- A commitment to thorough drafting and legal analysis;
- Excellent team work when working with junior and senior team members;
- Excellent project and time management skills;
- A practical and commercial approach;
- excellent IT skills and the ability to work in a paperless or paperlite environment; and
- the ability to manage and prioritise deadlines and fixed timescale work.
Although not a requirement, a STEP or Solicitors for the Elderly accreditation would be preferred.
