It’s a wrap – Helen Brewer of AMD Solicitors completes a new lease of 165k sq ft warehouse in Newport that will become the home for the next 5 years to film and television production company Urban Myth Films Ltd. Despite only completing a few weeks ago, Urban Myth are already in the throes of converting the massive space into film studios for the production of series 2 of War of the Worlds.

“This was one of the most challenging but hugely rewarding deals of my career so far. This is a sector I have not been involved with before but it is certainly one I hope to get to work in again. Timings were important on this one as the client had to be in and fitting out in sufficient time so that they could be up and running for the start of their strict filming schedule. When lockdown happened partway through, the landlord’s contractors had to down tools and leave the site – it looked like all bets were off. But luckily once restrictions eased sufficiently for the works to be completed, our client’s surveyor was able to get onsite to complete the extensive schedule of condition. Once that was finalised, we were finally able to complete the lease.”
