AMD assists The Conscious Food Company in obtaining its first retail premises

June 2023

Our commercial property team, led by Helen Brewer, recently acted for The Conscious Food Company on a lease of their first premises in Nailsea.

The Conscious Food Company, run by ex-chef Jonny Burnett, was founded in 2021 and supplies fresh fish sourced in Brixham to restaurants, shops, and hotels throughout Bristol and North Somerset. With this expansion, the Company is now able to develop its business and implement its growth strategy. Part of the Company’s plans are to convert half of the premises into a shop, where locals can finally obtain restaurant-quality fish to cook at home and for the other half, to allow for the expansion of their wholesale business. Jonny Burnett of The Conscious Food Company praised AMD for their assistance with its expansion, and commented that:

“I am delighted that we are able to proceed with the expansion of the business, and to embrace the exciting times ahead. I must also thank AMD for their patience, knowledge, and strong communication skills during the process, it made the process as smooth as it could have been. Sometimes it can feel daunting when engaging in commercial leases, and somewhat of a jargon minefield, but all of my uncertainties and worries were quickly answered by Helen, which was genuinely a relief.  And finally, if you want fresh fish folks, you know where to go”.

The Conscious Food Company will open its doors in Nailsea in time for the summer where they will also be looking to offer filleting classes and other “interactive fishy goodness”.

Helen Brewer commented:

“It was a pleasure to assist Jonny in securing the first shop premises for The Conscious Food Company. We are excited to have been a part of the company’s continued growth and expansion and we look forward to seeing what happens next”.
