A new chapter for Kings Weston House

Janine Harris of AMD Solicitors completes the sale of the beautiful and charming Grade 1 listed building, Kings Weston House. Kings Weston House was built in 1719 and designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, the designer of Blenheim Palace.  The former owner, Norman Routledge held sophisticated weddings and prestigious events at Kings Weston House throughout the year which the new owner hopes to continue.

Janine Harris said: “I was delighted to be instructed on the sale of such an important part of Bristol’s history. Having worked with a number of historically significant buildings during my career, I am always keen to deal with the many and varied challenges that this type of building presents.  In this instance, the main ones to mention would be the cessation of a plethora of residential and commercial leases and occupation rights, ensuring that vacant possession was achieved.  The work needed to be carried out in a very tight timeframe, that did not affect the pre-booked weddings and high-profile events which were scheduled years in advance. All of this was also to take place in the middle of a pandemic, which obviously complicated matters further. I am glad to say these challenges were overcome and a great result was achieved for our client. Overall, I have found this to be one of the most rewarding transactions of my career.”
